Whisper To Me,....

Perhaps it's difficult to believe, but for a non-verbal child,...Isaac has a lot to say and he often says it very LOUDLY,....

Hopefully this is just a phase Isaac is going through,...we've been assured that his verbal output is encouraging and that his difficulty with volume control is part of his Apraxia,...

The best part of this LOUD syndrome we are experiencing is that Isaac's loudness is generally very happy,...he's excited and wants to share his joy with us,...you can't knock joy,...the louder the better, but not all the time,...sometimes,...we need to be quieter and calm,...like at the grocery store or when it is getting late at night and Daddy and big brothers need to sleep so they can get up early for work or school.

The past few weeks,...this constant roar of happiness has been a bit of a problem,...it's the constant and the sheer volume which have had us scratching our heads for a solution because,...shhhhhing and modeling appropriate indoor voice,...hasn't sunk in,....but whispering works....

Often, at home, loud joy is fine,...but when it's appropriate for Isaac to be quieter I've found whispering to him gets his attention,...I whisper secrets in his ear,...and sometimes he whispers back,...although Apraxia won't let him say: I love you,...I know that's what his shushed tones are saying,...

Whisper to me,...works for now,...in the future,...Isaac will either get over this phase, or we'll have to find a new solution,...but that's for tomorrow...

Until I post again,...may God bless and keep you!
