Another I.E.P down today,...that's an individual education plan,...and Isaac is coming along nicely,...meeting some goals,...having a few challenges on others,...but over all making progress,...and that's no surprise here,...over the Christmas holidays Isaac's exhibited lots of emerging skills and a verbal explosion!!!
No surprise there,...either,...Isaac always has something to say,...and he says it,...or sings it,...or signs it,...or does a pretty good charade,...in other words,...our little guy gets his message across.
Tonight is red letter,...as Isaac imitated a new phrase.
It was bath time, and Daddy said, "Isaac time for your bath."
Big brother modeled, "Yes sir,"
And Isaac spontaneously echoed, "Yes, sar,...Daddy" (With Daddy being signed)
Wow! We weren't expecting that! How wonderful, and as a note,...here in the Deep South,...'Yes Sir' is part of the daily vernacular,...and is common as "yeah, ok, sure,"....but we weren't even aware Isaac was paying attention to that fine of a social detail,...we're thrilled to just get a 'Yes' - but tonight is only more affirmation,...that indeed Isaac is coming along nicely,...
Couldn't happen to a nicer, little guy,...but we are well aware with Isaac's severe Apraxia, and A-typical Autism,...he still has a lot of challenges to overcome,...but progress is progress,...and I can remember this time last year,...when I barely could get a signed, 'Mama', much less verbal,...and now I get, 'Hi Mama,' - at least once a day,...and some days,...a dozen times or more!!!
It's clear as he matures, Isaac is wanting to communicate all the business in his busy little brain,...he's always up to something,....you can just see the wheels churning,...
And if our adored little one is into mischief,...it is always curiosity driven,...such as last night when he peeled four bananas...to see if they'd all peel the same way,...they did,...another life's mystery solved,...and the rest of the universe to go,....
Yes,...these pictures are the same child,...taken spilt seconds apart,...life is not dull.
We are so grateful for what services Isaac is able to receive at his Preschool,...his attendance has been so beneficial to his social and communication objectives, and as we begin a new (I.E.P. Year) we are hopeful that Isaac will make even more progress for there is some much for him to see, and do and learn, and explore....
For Isaac,...we will never take the universe off the table,...explore my son, explore!
Until I post again,...may God bless and keep you!
