Dodging Storms,...

Severe thunder storms that can generate tornados are part of life in the Deep South,...during spring and fall,...and we try to stay prepared with plenty of batteries, flashlights, water, nonperishable food, and every electronic device kept fully charged.

Yesterday,...Isaac's preschool closed early in anticipation of dangerous thunder storms,...and we prepared my making sure we had plenty of Isaac's favorite snacks: popcorn and chocolate chip cookies (homemade, of course),...also lots of extra water,...'cause you just never know,...

It was too wet to play outside,...so Isaac bounced on the sofa, watched Veggie Tales and snacked on popcorn,...

I have mentioned before that Isaac really, really, really likes popcorn,...haven't I?

Luckily we were able to spend most of the afternoon and evening upstairs,...but then the tornado sirens started blaring,...and that means: go to a place of safety,...and for us that is our basement,...which is also our home gym,...and it is nice and roomy which is a good thing because we spent quite a few hours in our basement dodging storm after storm that came raging through with terrific lightning and booming thunder,...with one storm unexpectedly dropped down a tornado only a mile from our house after the all clear was given,...and that is only proof that you have to respect those winds,...and we are very grateful that while considerable damage was done to property,...thankfully no one was hurt in our area.

Also heart warming is how so many people,...immediately swarmed upon the affected area to help. Last night, my Michael braved the still raging storms and hiked the mile to offer his assistance at a trailer park that was stuck,...horrible damage,...but again,...no one hurt,...things can be replaced, but people can't.

During the height of the storms,...Isaac stayed safe in big brother's arms,...while Teddy monitored the storm track,...

Miraculously during all those storms we only briefly lost power,...Isaac is not afraid of the dark, but he was confused and ran around the basement flipping the light switches,...

Our storm vigil lasted well after midnight,...and it is well school was closed today,...as Isaac slept in,...and he'll need the rest as another round of storms is predicted for this afternoon and evening,...but we have plenty of popcorn,...and lots of cookies still left,...electronics are charging,...and our basement is waiting if needed,...a trade-off for us in the Deep South,...we have luscious green scenery, with gorgeous flowers, and even decorative weeds,...but we also have to dodge dangerous thunder storms,...come spring, come fall,...that's just life,...and for us,...we are learning to take a note out of Isaac's book,...and just live in the moment,...

Until I post again,...may God bless and keep you!
